Pray for the media on Sunday May 8th 2016.

Each spring, The Church + Media Network (CMN) encourages churches and Christians to gather together in prayer for the media. This year, the day of prayer falls on Sunday 8th May.

As Christians, we want to affirm the media’s vital role in our society

The Church and Media Network Day of PrayerRetrieved April 28, 2016

Like Feba, CMN recognises the powerful influence and impact media has on people’s lives.

CMN is an inter-denominational network seeking to build bridges between the media and the Christian community. The day is an initiative set up to focus our prayers on people working in the media, for lives to be changed and in support of Christian groups and churches interacting with the media.

Pray4media gives 3 specific groups of people to pray for:

  • Christian and non-Christian Media professionals (eg print and radio journalists, tv and film producers, directors, editors and writers, advertising and communication specialists)
  • Churches supporting and interacting with the media
  • Christian groups supporting those who work in and with the media

Feba's prayer for media

We believe that life-affirming media can transform lives.  From supporting disaster affected communities to marginalised Christians, our projects use media for positive change.  Feba's CEO, Bob Chambers, thinks the day is a great opportunity for churches, church leaders and individuals to focus on the media in prayer and has posted his own prayer for media:

Dear Lord,

We thank you for the gift of communication - the ability to connect with one another in so many different ways, for the tools and technology available to us today, and for those who use media creatively and constructively in communities right across the globe.

Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for the example and teaching of your Son Jesus Christ - who modeled and instructed us about the importance of living in right relationship with you and with one another, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to both throughout His life and ministry, with a message of restoration and transformation.

We pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit those working in the media would know how best to use the remarkable opportunities they have - to serve you faithfully and bear witness to your name, to harness the power of media for good, with a Christ-like love for their neighbours, for your glory.

In Jesus’ precious name we pray,

Amen.

Ongoing prayer

Feba's own online prayer diary gives daily suggestions for prayer in support of our media projects across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.  Our staff team, supporters and partner organisations pray on an ongoing basis for communities to be empowered through media, so we are looking forward to joining in on the 8th May with a wider network.
