Mozambique Expand Cabo Delgado is an area of Mozambique that has suffered from decades of armed conflict and economic hardship. Through their FM station Radio Wimbe are helping listeners to restore their relationships with God, their neighbours and the world around them. Broadcasting gospel messages in five languages, they also encourage listeners to join Discovery Bible Studies where they can unpack scripture and go deeper in faith. Sabiana's story Sabiana is a 36-year-old mother living in Cabo Delgado. She was finding life difficult, with a struggling business and ill health that led her to pay for the services of a local healer with no success. One day she started listening to Radio Wimbe at her neighbour’s house. The programme was talking about the word of God and the freedom that can be found in Christ. Her heart was struck by the words, and she realised that only God has the solutions to her struggles. Praise God that Sabiana has now given her life to Jesus and is committed to growing in faith and her knowledge of the Bible.
Mali Expand A landlocked country within West Africa, Mali’s security situation remains marked by armed conflict and abductions of property and people. Jihadist violence affects much of the country, with many regions under strict Islamic law. Christian presence in these areas is banned, making proclaiming the gospel openly almost impossible. Radio T records programmes in four local languages, broadcasting weekly across the central and northern regions of the country on more than 20 local FM stations. Through audio media they are reaching listeners like Oumar* who are searching for truth: Oumar's story “Your radio programmes piqued my curiosity to discover more about Christianity. I've been going to church for three Sundays, but I'm afraid of becoming a Christian because my father is the muezzin (the one who calls Muslims to prayer) of the neighbourhood mosque, and it could have serious consequences for me. My father listens to your broadcasts too. I can no longer say my Muslim prayers, something in me is disconnected from Islam.” - Oumar, Radio T listener *Name changed for security reasons
Northeast Africa Expand We work with several partners in this region, where Christians are persecuted and sharing the gospel is extremely challenging. Despite the obstacles, God is moving powerfully through audio media. Our partners reach five different language groups through broadcasting on shortwave radio, building relationships with listeners over social media and using SD cards containing gospel content to reach remote and nomadic communities. Freedom for the prisoners Our Northeast Africa Coordinator shared this response from a listener who called them from a local prison: “We listen to your program every night. Many of us here are imprisoned for various reasons. Some are filled with regret, others feel hopeless because of their imprisonment, and some have even wished for death. For the majority of us, hope is scarce. When your radio program airs, we gather around the few radios available and listen to all the messages and songs together. After the program, we discuss what we have heard. Remarkably, many have given their lives to Jesus through this process. Your work is incredible, and we praise God for the amazing impact.”
