Tibet Expand After years of scrutiny, restrictions and persecution, many Tibetans have sought refuge in neighbouring countries. Due to the discrimination and marginalisation Tibetans face, many cling more tightly to their beliefs and religion, making sharing the gospel extremely challenging. Gaweylon (meaning 'good news' in Tibetan) radio station aims to reach Tibetan Buddhists living in Tibet, India, Nepal, Bhutan and the rest of the world, with God’s message of love. Broadcasting three times a week in the Central Tibetan language on shortwave, the team share traditional music alongside health information and teaching on Christian values.
Bangladesh Expand Bangladesh has the fourth biggest Muslim population in the world*. Our partner, Rural Ministries Bangladesh uses shortwave radio to disciple isolated Christians and evangelise to those who are yet to hear the good news. They also run regular conferences as a place for listeners to ask questions and go deeper in to scripture. At one conference, 24 people gave their lives to Christ and were baptised! *source
Pakistan Expand Many Christians in Pakistan face persecution, particularly if they have converted from Islam. Blasphemy laws, which prohibit speech or actions that are derogatory to any religion, carry heavy punishments and regularly lead to false accusations and mob violence. In this sensitive and often hostile environment, radio is a powerful way to reach people with the gospel. Our partner, Feba Pakistan, works with churches and Christian organisations to run community-centred radio stations across two Pakistani provinces. Broadcasts take place for one hour per week, produced and presented by local believers in both national and local languages. The programmes share Christian truths and also cover topics like health, emotional well-being, education, human rights, and social development.
Kyrgyzstan Expand With 80% of the country covered in mountains, our partner in Kyrgyzstan broadcasts programmes 24/7 using a network of six FM stations throughout the country, the internet and social media to share the gospel with Kyrgyz people. Reaching around two thirds of the country , their programmes share God’s truth, encouraging listeners to take practical steps towards faith in Jesus.
Nepal Expand In a nation that is predominantly Hindu, Afno FM are working through five local FM stations, sharing the love of Jesus with rural communities. Radio is reaching those who otherwise wouldn’t hear the gospel with the message of God’s love and care, like Paribesh*: Paribesh's* story “I have been listening to Afno FM for over three years. I like the devotional programme which you broadcast in the morning. I have learned so many things about Lord Jesus. Now whatever happens I kneel down and pray and know the Lord hears my prayers.” *Name changed for security reasons
India Expand We partner with three projects in India - Portable Life Changers (PLC), Women’s Initiative and the Youth project - reaching different audiences including marginalised communities, women, and young people living in rural areas. Their radio broadcasts connect with listeners by covering relevant issues, like women’s rights in North India and health issues through the Youth Project , and provide opportunities to share the gospel both on air and in personal follow up. Ianya's* story Like many women living in rural India, Ianya* didn’t have the opportunity to go to school. With no formal education, she couldn’t read or access the word of God. That was until she was given a speaker box - a small audio device which plays Biblical content – by the PLC team. Ianya would spend hours listening to the stories and teachings of Jesus while she worked in the fields near her home. Moved by what she was learning, she began sharing the audio messages with her husband. A few months later, with support from the PLC team, Ianya and her husband both gave their lives to Christ and were baptised! *Name changed for security reasons
Cambodia Expand In Cambodia, years of civil war wrought devastation on society, shattering lives and communities. Internet and TV are still inaccessible for many people and those living in rural areas are often illiterate, but they can understand what they hear on the radio and on other audio devices. Feba UK supports their Khmer Audio Bible Project, run by our partner FEBC Cambodia, which is making God’s word more accessible, particularly for those who cannot read. For listeners like Chaay*, hearing the Bible in her heart language is a deeply powerful experience: Chaay's story "Thank you for bringing Bible audio boxes to our village. The messages in the audio box uplift my spirit. Listening each day has awakened a deep hunger in me to know God more. I want to learn about Him, walk with Him, and grow in faith. Every word draws me closer to God. This gift is a doorway to a new life." Chaay, Khmer Audio Bible Project listener, Cambodia *Name changed for security reasons
Central Asia Expand Feba works with a number of partners in Central Asia – a highly sensitive context where persecution of Christians is common and widespread. Both partners are reaching Muslims through radio and social media, boldly sharing the hope of the gospel. One of our partners, Central Asia Project (CAP), runs an innovative ministry providing audio media training for university students. The courses also share Christian values and many, like Timur*, have seen their lives transformed by Jesus. Timur's story "I was a real headache for the CAP team…I disregarded everyone in authority. I was always asking myself ‘Why are those people trying to care for me?’ When I realised it was because they were Christians, I laughed out loud…asking many silly and mocking questions. Yet they answered all of them in a very gentle and polite way. After a three-month battle, I surrendered my life to the Lord. To say my life has changed is an understatement. All I have in my life—my education, freedom, family, job, friends—all those are given by Him—my Lord of everything" *Name changed for security reasons
