As we reflect on the death and resurrection of Christ this Easter, Feba writer Gill Knowles provides a reflection on the way Jesus paved the way to a restored relationship with God.

Jesus was all about relationship – most importantly restoring relationship. Through his death on the cross he made a way for a restored relationship for us with God. And from there, is the opportunity for restored relationships within families, faith-communities and wider society.

In the New Testament, Peter had clear ideas about who was ‘in’ and who was not; the people he was in relationship with and those he was not. God challenged his prejudice and opened up relationship with a group of people Peter previously thought were ‘unclean’.

He [Peter] said to them: ‘You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.”

Acts 10:28

In the world today there are many things that can and, all too often, do divide us; people about whom we have fixed ideas and may be avoid, or at least, do not particularly go out of our way to engage with.

Radio bridging divides

Some of our partners are working in places where communities are divided. This may be along clan or ethnic lines, religion or politics.

Several Feba projects have a specific focus on Peace and Reconciliation work. Through radio broadcasts our partners seek to give a voice to different groups in order to create more understanding and engagement between them. This opens up the way for dialogue, a sharing of ideas and even co-operation as they work together to address community issues.
