Resources Prayers This Week in Prayer: Iraq *Iraq FM produces community-focused programmes, helping to address the issues facing the different neighbourhoods in their area, improving people's quality of life and bringing understanding among those of different faiths. SUNDAY 19th January The situation in Iraq is very sensitive at the moment. Since October, there has been a wave of anti-government protests across the country. Please pray for peace and an openness on behalf of the government and religious leaders to listen to the cries of protesters, many of whom are women, demanding an end to corruption, unemployment and inefficient public services. MONDAY 20th January In recent weeks, a team from *Iraq FM have been visiting Tahrir Square, the epicentre of the protests, and praying with people caught up in the demonstrations. The team has asked us to pray specifically for God’s protection, stable government and an end to the unofficial Iranian militias that are active across the country. TUESDAY 21st January Plans are moving ahead to open a new radio station in the south of Iraq in 2020. Please pray for everyone involved in getting this exciting project off the ground. Also, ask that God would prepare hearts and open minds to hear the gospel for perhaps the first time in their heart language WEDNESDAY 22nd January There is an opportunity for *Iraq FM to partner with another Christian organisation in Baghdad. Please pray this will develop into a fruitful relationship where many new people will get to hear about *Iraq FM’s gospel ministry through a range of Christian publications that are distributed in Iraq. THURSDAY 23rd January We have been asked to pray for a number of blind people who listen to *Iraq FM, including Jamal, Yafor, Mariam, Abo Abid Al Kadim and Saif. Let us pray for these people keeping in mind these words of the Lord in Isaiah 42:6-7: “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.” FRIDAY 24th January Please pray for all the team at *Iraq FM at the start of this New Year. Ask for God’s blessings on their ministry that they will be rich in creative ideas and fruitful in bringing the light of the gospel to people of different faiths in a country that is still suffering the effects of decades of conflict. SATURDAY 25th January There are a number of listeners to *Iraq FM who are close to putting their faith and trust in Jesus. We have been asked to pray for the following people by name that nothing will hold them back from accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour: Mohanad, Sadik, Jamal, Jonaid and Rasheed. *For the sake of security, some of the real names of people, projects or programmes have been changed or omitted.
