This year will be the first time for many Christians that they are unable to meet together or attend church to celebrate Easter. It is our hope and prayer that these recorded messages will be an encouragement and inspiration that anyone can access from their own home.

In the first of this series of short reflections for Holy Week 2020 - being recorded specially for Feba, Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali considers the role and significance of the donkey as Jesus entered Jerusalem, celebrated on Palm Sunday.

Bishop Michael has suggested that you might also like to find a recording of the popular Palm Sunday hymn 'Ride on, ride on in majesty!' to listen to. There are several available on YouTube, including this:

In the second video in this series - for Maundy Thursday, Bishop Michael looks at the Last Supper.

If you'd like to have a look at a related hymn, Bishop Michael has suggested 'My God, Thy table now is spread':

Bishop Michael examines Jesus' last words in the third video, for Good Friday.

A very popular, well known hymn for Good Friday is 'When I survey the wondrous cross'. There are various recordings set to a tune known as 'Rockingham' available on YouTube, including this: There is also a contemporary setting of the same words, performed by Kathryn Scott, here:

The final reflection in this series from Bishop Michael is for Easter Sunday, exploring the role of the women in the gospel narratives.

Bishop Michael has suggested that you might also like to reflect on the words of the hymn 'Jesus Christ is risen today'. Indeed, Bishop Michael will be singing this hymn outside his home on Easter morning! There are various recordings available on YouTube, including this: If you prefer more contemporary worship music, then Keith and Kristyn Getty have published a new song this Easter - 'Christ our hope in life and death':

We do hope that you have found these reflections helpful during what has undeniably been an exceptional Holy Week.

We pray that in the days ahead you will know the peace and comfort that only the risen Lord Jesus can bring, as together we seek to follow Him. Amen.
