Stories Latest Stories Meet the team: Esther In January, Esther celebrated a decade working with Feba. Famous for her delicious baking and wonderful way of looking after our supporters, we chatted to her about why she still loves her role and Feba’s ministry. What brought you to join Feba? I joined Feba 10 years ago in January 2016 after having a career break to bring up my three children. When my youngest started school, freeing up some time, this vacancy at Feba caught my eye. It was a good fit and the rest is history! What are some of the highlights of your role? I get to speak and communicate with many of our supporters daily. I love to help people when they're calling with questions or issues. It’s not something I’d done in previous roles, so I have to admit it was a bit scary to start with, but now I enjoy picking up the phone, not always knowing who is going to be on the other end! Having worked in secular companies before, another huge highlight is being part of a Christian organisation.Praying as a team every day, encouraging and learning from each other has helped my faith mature. Working with other believers has really helped me to grow spiritually in my walk with Jesus. What inspires you about Feba’s ministry? I don’t always find sharing my faith easy, so supporting our partners, who do this in incredibly difficult contexts, inspires me and reminds me that we are all called to point people to Jesus, wherever God has placed us in this world I also love that through radio and audio media we’re reaching people who can't easily access the gospel, crossing cultural and geographical boundaries. I find that exciting and fulfilling because spreading the gospel is what we're called to do. It’s a great motivation. What brings you joy? All the F’s - faith, family, friends, and food (in that order!). Knowing that I am a child of God and having a purpose in life – knowing that He's going to come again and put everything right – that gives me a deep joy which goes beyond momentary happiness. Also, spending time with my family; seeing my three boys happy, healthy and growing up into caring young men. What have you learnt through your role? Growing up, I was always quite introverted but through this role I’ve learnt that I’m actually a people person! I’m communicating and supporting people all the time; I get real satisfaction from that. I've also learned that if what you're doing is aligned with God's plan, He will bless it. It’s been amazing to see how He’s continuing to provide for Feba’s ministry. We can trust in the Lord knowing that if He wants something to happen, it will! As Feba’s star baker, what is your favourite cake to make? I like to bake something that I know people will enjoy and everybody can eat, some of my go-tos are brownies and rocky road, because what’s not to like? Do you have any hidden talents? I spent a year in France while at university and really got to grips with the language and culture, which helped me get my first job. I have occasionally helped translate conversations with our French-speaking partner in Mali, which was great fun! What book should everyone read (other than the Bible)? The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren - he explains the gospel message in a way that is accessible to anyone, whatever their stage of faith. The book responds to life’s big questions like ‘why am I here?’ and ‘what's my purpose?’ with clear, biblical answers. Want to meet more of the team?
