Light to isolated believers: Northeast Africa For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light. - Ephesians 5:8 For believers facing persecution, Christian radio programmes can offer a lifeline, as we have seen from Tebeb's* story in the final week of Advent. Join us now as we pray for isolated brothers and sisters, led by Dawit* our Northeast Africa Coordinator. Pause, listen, pray Your browser does not support the audio element. These words were shared by Tebeb from the Sparrow people, whose story we have been reading in week four of Feba’s Advent calendar. In Northeast Africa, where the Sparrow people live, following Jesus brings many challenges, including persecution. For believers like Tebeb, it is often not possible to attend church or openly practice their Christian faith. This why Feba’s partner broadcasts programmes like Reality Church, to strengthen Christians with Bible teaching and worship and to help them feel less alone. Today, we want to share three ways you can pray for isolated brothers and sisters in Northeast Africa: Pray through scripture: The Bible is full of wonderful words to help us pray. Today, why not pray a verse over Sparrow believers, like Isaiah 41:10 which reads "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Pray for connection: Feba’s partners are creatively using audio media to connect with and build up the body of Christ in Northeast Africa. Pray that more believers would gain access to these broadcasts. Ask that the Lord would strengthen the work of our partners, filling them with creativity and providing the resources they need as they create their Reality Church radio programmes and reach out to individual listeners. Pray for change: Our heart is to see individuals come to faith, but also to see communities and societies transformed by God’s Kingdom coming on earth. Where individuals, leaders or whole cultures seek to stop the gospel being shared, ask for God to change hearts so that isolated and persecuted believers in Northeast Africa, and around the world, can openly and safely live out their faith. Father, we bring all these requests before you as we remember our isolated brothers and sisters in Northeast Africa. Amen Help bring light in the darkness If you would like to support the work The Sparrow Project and our other partners around the world are doing, we would be so grateful.
