Resources Stories Advent Reflection: Hope He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength... Isaiah 40:29-31 Imagine: a young woman leaving her home on the promise of a job or marriage, travelling away from family and friends, only to discover that she has become a victim of sex trafficking. Her hope of a better life and future extinguished, replaced by despair. Feba’s partners use radio to bring messages of hope, enabling transformation to come to individuals and communities in both their practical and spiritual lives. Firoz, the Programme Manager at Feba India, tells how radio brought hope to a woman who was trafficked, saying: The most memorable result from a radio project I have seen was when one girl in West Bengal was trafficked and rescued by the police after [they] were informed by a woman of the same community who had listened to our radio programme on trafficking... During Advent we remember that Christ came into this world, shining light into darkness and despair, bringing hope of a better life now and life eternal. Through a personal relationship with him, believers find life in its fullness. Dear Lord, thank you for the hope we find in you. Even when we face overwhelming situations and feel despair, you are there, renewing our strength and carrying us through. May listeners to the radio programmes today experience this as they trust in you. Amen. To hear more from Firoz and for links to the other Advent reflections, please click here.
