Part of the community: our partners broadcasting in Pakistan are enabling Christians to build bridges into their wider communities, helping to address local issues and introduce Christian values.

Syban is one of the programmes aired on local FM stations, through which listeners are informed about health and hygiene, education and employment opportunities to name a few topics covered.

I have been listening to Syban regularly for three years. It’s a great programme and its topics are relevant to our daily issues. Personally I learnt a lot from this programme.

These programmes help improve the quality of people’s lives, and change attitudes and behaviour, as the FM team recently reported:

“These community development programmes have influenced our audiences . . . as they are recognising our services significantly and accepting Christian community as part of their own community.”

Practical demonstration of God's love

Last year the FM team, working in partnership with other organisations, organised free medical camps providing practical advice and help beyond the radio programmes. A team member said of one of the camps:

More than 500 people attended and got check up of major disease like Hepatitis, Diabetes, gynaecology issues and other blood diseases. The participants belonged to a very marginalised class and admitted that this is the first time they are getting this free medical facility and blood tests in their life.”

People who attended this camp were very grateful:

Thanks Feba Radio in arranging this free medical facility to our local community in this remote area.

“Thanks Feba Radio in arranging this free medical facility to our local community in this remote area. I believe this free medical camp is a practical demonstration of all what is aired in Feba’s programmes. Being a listener of programme Syban, I would suggest everyone to listen to Feba broadcasts so that we can become fruitful citizens of our community in Pakistan.”

A local health worker also said:

“We have to travel a lot in order to get medical assistance from the nearby city which is on the other side of this mountain. Many people just ignore their diseases due to a lack of health awareness, resources and lack of knowledge. In case of emergency they have to face the crucial situation and most of them died due to non availability of medical facilities. I am very pleased that Feba Radio and its Syban team has organised this free medical camp and shared the health awareness by inviting doctors and all para-medical staff.”

The Feba family

Feba Pakistan also arranged a listeners’ conference, bringing together listeners to all the different programmes – including those listening to the FM programmes. They reported:

“This was the first time that we are having our listeners from social media, FM, along with our shortwave group on a bigger platform. They came from 19 different cities, representing different backgrounds, ideas, cultures and social values with one common value – they all belong to Feba family through the broadcasts Feba aired in different languages and mediums…”

One of the attendees had this to say:

I had some misunderstanding regarding Christianity and about the authenticity of the Bible, but after attending this camp I have a clear vision and a very positive attitude toward the Holy Bible.

“I had some misunderstanding regarding Christianity and about the authenticity of the Bible, but after attending this camp I have a clear vision and a very positive attitude toward the Holy Bible. Now I can clearly understand the life and teaching of the Jesus Christ. . . Thanks Feba for such an opportunity of learning and sharing.”
