I’ve no doubt you have heard the devasting news about the landslide and flash floods in Nepal, along the Tibetan border. I have been in touch with our partner Vijay who leads Afno FM. the community radio. We have also been receiving updates from HDCS, the umbrella organisation that runs Afno FM, which stand for Human Development & Community Services. They've shared:
“Thousands of houses have been swept away by the river, along with livestock and many physical infrastructures, including concrete bridges and suspension bridges. Roads in many places have been completely washed away, leaving no trace of them. Because hydropower facilities have also been swept away, people are being forced to live without electricity. Our partner radio station, Radio Rasuwa, is currently off the air. Our medical team and counsellors helped 91 people. They were provided with medical check-ups and treatment, and then an opportunity to share their stories and express their traumas, with our counsellors. Two trucks left HDCS office in Kathmandu heading for Trishuli (close to where the floods happened). They contained sets of clothes, blankets, stretchers, wheelchairs, solar lights, mosquito nets, rolls of foam mattresses, and medical masks and gloves."
They've shared in an update they are discussing how we can help the affected people in this difficult situation and they are asking us to pray as they seek ways to assist those affected.
Let’s continue to pray for Nepal, for HDCS as they transport critical supplies to the affected areas, and let's also pray for Afno FM as they continue to broadcast and speak comfort and hope to listeners in local communities who don’t yet know the love of Jesus.
