Nelson, a Feba India team member, was invited home by a family he met during a church visit, to share the Word of God and pray with them. He soon realised that there was a problem in the family.
“Their eldest son, we’ll call him Arun, had left home and they were upset. His father had scolded him for some reason; the boy felt very bad about it and left,” Nelson explains.
Listener under a tree
“The family searched for him many times, but no one knew where he was. As it happened, he was sitting under a tree next to a tea shop, listening to a song. The owner of the shop had his radio tuned to Feba. Arun heard a Hindi song and mistook it for a film song. In fact, it was a devotional song.
“The presenter started sharing the Word of God and telling the story of the prodigal son. When he heard that, Arun thought, ‘I also am a prodigal son today. I have left my family, I have left my home and I have sinned against my father. I didn’t listen to him’
“Afterwards, Arun went back home. He told his father, ‘Today through this radio programme I came to know I had made a mistake, so I am very sorry.’”
Postscript:
Nelson had been praying for the family for many days when he received a phone call from Arun’s father: “He told me, ‘Brother, you came to my house and you prayed for my son. My son is at home today’.” Nelson asked how this had happened and was told the story. Arun’s father was overjoyed that he had come back and that there was a transformation in his life.
