A new FM radio project is gaining traction in the northern parts of Mozambique. A faith goal has been agreed with the partners, the project goals are clear, and some exciting work is ahead of us.

Feba UK's Mark Taylor and Bob Bartz recently spent a week in the coastal and harbour town of Pemba, located in the far north of Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province. Meetings with the local committee formed to apply for an FM licence, local missionaries and Christian workers, resulted in a clear faith goal and specific project goals for the ministry of a new FM station in a region that is home to many hard-to-reach people. Feba and IBRA Media will be major partners in this new project.

Faith Goal for Radio Wimbe

We are trusting to God to do a transforming work, by His Spirit, amongst the families in and around Pemba. As biblical values become practised in their relationships at home and in the community, we trust God for the following impact and change over the next eight years:

1. Many more Pemba residents becoming believers in Jesus with 50% identifying themselves as Christians in the Government census that ocurrs in 2017

2. Many husbands becoming faithful to one wife and the family, with the number of families living this way increasing by 200%

3. The prevalent violence in families as well as incidents of crime and road accidents due to subtance abuse decreasing by 50%

4. The illness resulting from poor lifestyle choices (especially HIV/AIDS) decreasing with noticeable effect

Project Description

Radio Wimbe will be a community FM radio project for the city of Pemba, Mozambique and its surrounding villages, and a collaborative effort of Feba Radio, IBRA Media, a local radio association, and ministry partners in the eastern part of Cabo Delgado province. The project will establish an FM radio station to deliver locally produced content from a Biblical worldview and always in the context of the community. The partners are in agreement with a Faith Goal:

We are trusting God to do a transforming work, by His Spirit, amongst the families in and around Pemba. As biblical values become practised in their relationships at home and in the community, we trust God for significant impact and change in the community, and that Radio Wimbe will become a reliable, consistent FM radio station delivering compelling, informative and influential content to its audience.

Radio Nuru is a partnership project of Feba Radio and Africa Inland Mission (AIM), and is an FM station that will soon broadcast programmes to the Mwane people, in their kiMwane language. They recently received their broadcast licence, and have been granted 106.6 FM as their frequency. The station hopes to deliver programmes to at least 85% of the Mwane people, who mostly live along the coast.
