Christians have tremendous opportunities to use mass media to communicate the Gospel, but often are not skilled to take hold of them. As a radio media ministry, we are committed to ensuring that our staff, association colleagues and ministry project partners are equipped with the right skills that they need to succeed in communicating the Gospel by radio.
Examples:
* The Feba UK Audio Systems Team use their strengths in studio engineering and digital audio workstations to develop the Chrysolite Suitcase Studio and provide technical advice to our associations and radio partners in building traditional studios.
Each suitcase studio project includes planning for Feba staff to deliver the suitcase and conduct the training. The suitcase studio training is typically three days with lots of hands-on work setting up the equipment, recording, editing audio files and more.
* Feba gives occasional consultation on special FM radio projects, such as the Community Radio Initiative for Nepal (CoRIN). In May 2008 the new Nepali staff attended a community radio workshop in Kathmandu, led by Feba UK staff and partners. Four weeks later, after having hands-on, mentor-based training, the students were on-air with test broadcasts using the small FM transmitter built into the suitcase studio.
* Feba UK and its partners developed FIRST Response disaster radio training to teach radio journalists, relief workers and government personnel how to use radio during a disaster, based on their experiences in the 2004 Asian tsunami and the 2006 Pakistan earthquake.
