Having over the past decade fostered the creation of Spotlight, programmes for speakers of English as a foreign language using a technique known as Specialised English (SE), Feba has taken the decision to pass that ministry on to other partners.
Every year since 2001 the Spotlight partner producers from Feba, Words of Hope, and (more recently) ReFrame Media have met together to review, to plan, to learn, and to celebrate God’s work through Spotlight. This year we met in Michigan in September, and were joined by a guest – international Christian broadcaster HCJB Global.
Now, several weeks on and after prayerful negotiations, we are pleased to announce that from January 2010, HCJB Global will be Spotlight’s new production partner, specifically via its UK office in Bradford, Yorkshire. HCJB Global (UK) is highly respected in Britain, where it is best known for its award-winning programmes for commercial radio, and for its ‘Audiopot’ broadcasters’ resource. Its website is at www.hcjb.org.uk.
Although Feba UK will no longer be formally involved in SE and Spotlight, we will still be a friend wherever the respective ministry areas touch. Feba will be seconding Mike Procter to work for HCJB Global after the changeover. But sadly, both of our Spotlight producers based in Feba (Worthing, UK) will be leaving us. In one sense, they are the bookends of the whole international Spotlight production team – Marina Santee is the longest serving (over 9 years) and Steve Myersco is the shortest (18 months).
We want to thank these talented producers for their contributions to Spotlight. We appreciate them enormously and we look forward to hearing that God has led them on to something new and fulfilling. Please hold them up in prayer, even as you also pray for the new shape of the partnership: Spotlight website.
