Could you imagine living in a place where you couldn't find a church on Easter Sunday morning? Most of Feba's broadcasts are in areas where Christianity is a minority faith, making Easter only a minor religious festival. Feba's radio programmes are broadcasting Easter tidings to those in the Middle East and beyond.
“We are planning two special evenings both on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, replacing our normal Middle East schedule with a 90-minute “as-live" show,” says Jerry Wilson, Feba Middle East. “The programme producer Souheil and a special guest from Palestine will be sharing about the Easter story – Scripture reading, discussing the places/history and playing special Easter songs in between. They will also be talking about what happens today around Jerusalem.”
Yemen
Jerry continues: “Our friend will be playing the [Arabian] Oud instrument live during the magazine programme, so they will discuss some of the songs. And the people here for the Reality Church series will be sharing in the programmes for Easter too.”
Iraq
“The production of Easter programmes in Iraq on local FM and on short wave is being done as close to the time of broadcast as possible,” says Noor of Feba Middle East. “Most of our Iraq programmes are community-type programmes, but during Easter, the presenters will be reading passages from the Bible about Easter. There will be questions and answers related to why Christians believe that Jesus actually died.”
“The team will be also talking about the traditional things that Christians do during Easter, for example egg boiling/colouring. What do they mean and where did they come from. The team will also be interviewing Christians asking them, ‘What does Easter mean to you?’ They will also be broadcasting SMS messages from listeners, wishing Happy Easter to their friends.”
On the day after Easter, they will broadcast their programme How are you Iraq? live, talking about the topic: "He’s risen indeed!" with evidence of the resurrection. The programme Lulu’s friends will include an Easter-related story and children’s celebration theme.
