Previous experience in disaster radio

Based on previous experiences, Feba, FEBC and partners have developed the FIRST Response system along with workshops on the unique role that radio plays in disaster response.

Today is the second day of the workshop when the participants will be learning
about:

  • How to write for radio
  • Mics and equipment usage
  • Creating Public Service Announcements

One of the facilitators of the FIRST Response radio trial lives in western Sumatra and has first hand experience on the impact of radio after the Boxing Day 2004 Tsunami hit western Sumatra where she now works in helping communities in disaster-prone areas to get prepared.
