The month of Ramadan draws to a close this week. Join us in prayer for God to reveal the truth through Jesus to Muslims during their special season of prayer and fasting. Many Muslims are seeking spiritual truths. Contacts with our radio programme follow-up staff by phone and SMS messages increase during this time.
In the Middle East, fasting and prayer have been topics in our programmes throughout Ramadan. During the programmes, listeners are responding and asking questions, giving programme presenters great opportunities for conversation and sharing.
Comments from listeners:
"Because the month of Ramadan started, I would like to send you my best wishes, asking God Almighty to give us a good year full of His blessings."
"How and when is fasting practiced in the Christian religion?"
"How should I pray? In which direction?"
During Ramadan last year, Muslims responding to the Central Asia web forums were hard and forceful. The team asks that we pray this year that the Lord will soften their hearts, so they are open to discussion and learning.
In South Asia, a 20-minute evening discussion programme on fasting has been well received. They purposely talked on different practices about fasting. Including the present culture of Muslim fasting (using Koran references) and then fasting in the light of the Bible (Isaiah 58 and Matthew 6). During their morning serial drama, they address current events. So of course Ramadan and fasting were a natural part of the programme. This created interesting dialogue between the drama characters.
As Ramadan ends on 19-20 September, Muslims throughout the world observe a three-day celebration called Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Fast-Breaking). Many will go to Eid prayer in large groups at mosques or outdoor settings together. As they are praying and seeking God, join us in praying that he will speak to them in a special way.
