On 19 July, 70,000 Christians gathered at the sports stadium in Pretoria to hear potato farmer Angus Buchan speak to the nation on the need to trust Christ for salvation and their future.

In a time when many South Africans are leaving the country, he urged the nation to have faith in Christ. This marked the largest gathering of people in this stadium ever. Feba South Africa staff handed out 25,000 flyers at this Christian event called Loftus for Jesus. “What a wonderful team building exercise this was and what joy to have been out on the streets around the stadium talking to people about our ministry. Many folk recognized us by our Feba-branded t-shirts and shared that they pray for Feba’s ministry,” says Justus Potgieter, Feba South Africa Marketing Manager.

“The atmosphere was electric as people worshiped the Lord Jesus together by praying the Lord’s Prayer together, confessing their sins together, singing together. Many tears flowed on the day as men and women humbled themselves before Almighty God and left inspired.”

Justus continues: “Imagine 70,000 believers descending on a stadium with nothing in mind other than to bring Jesus glory and praise! The general attitude of everyone was relaxed and friendly, so unlike that which you expect to find when there is a match on! None of us Feba people had tickets, but the Lord provided when a ‘good Samaritan’ who bought extras gave me seven tickets in passing. This entitled a number of us to seats in fairly close proximity to the main platform. Handing out some flyers in the road adjacent to the stadium, I was approached out of the blue by a young lady who wanted to know if I had a ticket for her. When I said ‘yes’, she grabbed a stack of flyers and promptly started dishing them out of sheer appreciation.”

“Angus Buchan, a well-known South African farmer, turned part-time evangelist after reaching many farmers in the Cape region for Christ, many on a person to person basis. He was recently featured in a movie of much acclaim—Faith like Potatoes which tells the story of God’s miraculous intervention in his daily life and ministry. Buchan has held many ‘men’s camps’ called ‘mighty men’ camps on his farm, which has been extremely successful in leading men to Christ—men who had for many years sat in the pews of their churches, yet were never open to the touching of God’s Spirit. Buchan is a very simple chap in the sense that he is humble and down to earth. His desire is to see South Africa turn to Christ.”
