Kicking off the day with a new Feba UK introduction video, this year's Feba AGM was action packed. Ministry updates came from live speakers and Skype video calls from field staff. We celebrated 50 years of Feba with archive video footage of the Seychelles station construction and heard from former staff. We also took a look at new things like internet radio for youth, improving listener follow up with mobile phones and Facebook.
John Rogers (Board Chairman) and Jonathan Frank (Chief Executive) spoke about the Heart of Feba, and how in reshaping the statement of Feba’s purpose, the intention is to stimulate new ministry and grow new initiatives whilst preserving and strengthening the core of what Feba is.

“Life, change and hope: three words that capture the richness of the thirteen and a half thousand hours of broadcasting that we were involved in during 2009. We want to open up the heart of Feba to show you the distinctive flavours that make Feba’s ministry so special,” said Jonathan Frank in his opening remarks together with John Rogers in the Special Briefing.
Jonathan: “Life, change and hope – three fundamental flavours of our ministry. Feba’s programmes address life issues relevant to our listeners, in their heart language, in culturally appropriate ways. We long for listeners to find life in all its fullness, in every area of their lives. That’s why Jesus said he came and as we introduce people to him we know that he will work through us to bring abundant life.”
John Rogers: “We see practical, social and spiritual change as our programmes educate, raise awareness, inform and entertain. The way in which our presenters challenge listeners with God’s values and with the truth of Scripture itself brings transformation as individuals respond and, in time, whole communities are transformed.”
Jonathan: “And we know that Feba’s programming gives hope. Whether it is health education bringing practical hope by improving a family’s life expectancy, or biblical storytelling or discipleship that points to hope for eternity, hope is what we offer in an often hope-less world: eternal hope through faith in Jesus Christ and hope for everyday as life situations are transformed.”
John: “With so much opportunity and such little resource, we have to prioritise, and we believe God calls us to put the hard-to-reach first, those whom nobody else will get to, those who will otherwise be forgotten, those who have the least chance to hear about Jesus and be transformed by his Spirit.
“Bringing together the heart of Feba that we have described to you over the last few minutes, this is what we have... a clear direction for the Purpose of Feba UK.
As followers of Jesus,
we use media to serve and give
life-changing hope to communities
of hard-to-reach people
around the world.
This is how we are articulating our purpose for the 2010s. We believe it preserves the core of Feba, and yet expands the possibilities for developing the ministry as God leads us forward. I hope and pray that God catches your excitement and you see this purpose statement come to life.”
