Listeners speak out
Monday 22nd February, 2010

Over the past three weeks, our newsbriefs have featured special stories that relate to the new Feba logo and have unpacked its tag line: life. change. hope. It seems very appropriate then to wrap up this series by hearing comments directly from Feba’s listeners.
Around the Feba world we have lots of contact with listeners responding to the programmes. Responses can come by letter, by phone, SMS text messages and email. On-the-ground contact happens too, through personal follow-up visits, listeners’ clubs, seekers’ conferences as well as listeners visiting local Feba stations.
Here’s what some of our listeners have to say…
Horn of Africa
- Muslims and Orthodox Christians in my area like to listen to your programmes.
- I listen to your programmes in prison. Other prisoners are also listening with us without opposition. Pray for these people who are listening that their lives will be changed.
- I have been listening to your radio programmes for a long time, but I noticed that your teaching is only about Jesus and that He is able to save sinners. How about angels? Are they not mediators?
Mozambique
- I have my radio ready with batteries every day so that I tune in right at 3pm!
- I make certain to return home each afternoon (a 3km walk) in order to take a bath, sit on my mat, get out my radio and listen to your programmes which begin at 3pm.
- I love Radio Nuru because it is in OUR language (and we don't have to put up with Portuguese). We understand everything perfectly.
Malawi
- We Muslims believe in Jesus Christ as one of the great prophets who did many miracles. Mine is just a simple question, if God is the Way, how come Jesus is the only Way to heaven?
- Thank you very much for the programme you aired which was really helpful, especially the AIDS interview, and the story spoken were indeed good. This programme has taken me to another height of understanding of how the world of sin all about.
- You have a sense of humour when you talk over the radio. Since our language in some cases is dying, you awaken it to the extent that our language should go on from generation to generation.
Middle East
- How and when is fasting practiced in the Christian religion?
- I love Christ but I need a Bible.
- You say that Christ loves the whole world; all who believe, and even those who don't believe in him and that he came to make peace in the world. Look what we see now. Even the land where he was born is not having peace, including his followers.
Bangladesh
- I have been listening to your programmes for a month, with 5-6 people. Jesus will forever now be my Saviour.
- I really like your programmes. I tape them on audio-cassettes for my neighbours.
- When I heard the story of the crucifixion of Jesus, tears ran down my face.
India
- I am 79 years old and because of my inability to walk I am not able to go to church. I was very discouraged, but your programme paved the way for me to hear God’s Word and makes me feel as if I am in a church service.
- I am depressed after a fight with my father. Please play a good song for me.
Central Asia
- I attended the seekers’ camp and I really enjoyed it a lot. The teaching is unmatchable; I learnt about practical affection and love. The important thing is that I came to know the reality of Christianity.
- Thank you for the online radio! Now I have a pretty fast internet connection at home and I can listen to your radio online.
Nepal
- Thank you very much. I am the District Health Officer. We are very happy to have Aafno FM. I came to know that many villagers have learnt new things. It is good to know that the FM is broadcasting health education and entertainment programmes, which are necessary for the community.
