Praise God! Feba Mozambique Programme Director, Narciso Zandamela, has reported that they have received their broadcast licence and the official frequency for the new station Radio Nuru (106.6Mhz). The next hurdle is gaining permission to begin test broadcasts on that frequency.

Radio Nuru is a community FM station in Macomia (in northern Mozambique, about 50km northwest of Pemba) to serve the Mwane community, in partnership with locally-based Africa Inland Mission (AIM) missionaries. It is expected that 85% of the kiMwane-speaking community will be able to hear the station.

Though the station’s licence application had been delayed, the construction of the station was completed in March. Feba’s Assistant Director Mark Taylor and Development Director Bob Bartz met with local team leaders in Macomia in April to discuss the ministry plans.

In June Bob will lead a team including Richard Whittington (Frequency Schedule Engineer) and Anton Bouwer (Tower Consultant) to install equipment and mount the antenna on the radio tower...preparing the station for test broadcasts.
