As programme presenters in Africa plan their programmes for the Easter season, they are well aware that many non-Christians have misconceptions about Jesus' death and resurrection, so they focus on presenting biblical facts.

When listeners ask about the resurrection, the presenters patiently and respectfully share the evidence. The crucifixion of Jesus can be a stumbling block to non-Christians, so all of the programmes are designed with clear presentations of the purpose of the crucifixion and the joy of the resurrection, about God’s love for us.

Malawi
Programme presenter Amos took this approach in his programmes. He says:

  • The programme topic “Can you prepare to die?” looks at how God prepared his Son as a sacrifice for the sins of the people particularly those who did not accept Jesus as their Saviour. Jesus gave his life even for those who did not accept him.
  • The topic “What does the death of Jesus mean to you?” looks at the sympathy God had for the whole world that he could let his only Son to face the brutal death that Jesus experienced. They examined the proof in favour of the biblical record of his death and resurrection.
  • The topic “Death has no power over Jesus” looks at the silent day when Jesus was in the grave as a great opportunity for non-believers - meaning Jesus' death is not only for the believers, but those who do not put their trust in Jesus.
  • The topic “What is Salvation?” looks at the resurrection of Jesus as the life giver for anyone who wants to turn to him today, no matter who they are. We have also explained why men at one time were afraid of death and then later were transformed into men over whom death had no hold.
  • The topic “Jesus Overcame Death” looks at the resurrection of Jesus as a conqueror of death. Since there was no one who could give his life for many, only Jesus did it for the sake many people including all of the people groups in Africa.

Zimbabwe
The Feba Zimbabwe programme producers have prepared a special service for Good Friday, to be aired at the discretion of ZBC (Zimbabwe national broadcaster). All of the programmes lined up for Easter week will be specially made to fit the season.

Mozambique
The Easter programmes planned by Feba Mozambique include a series of features leading the listeners to the major panel programme on Good Friday. All of the programme presenters will refer to the topic. This is a special occasion to draw listeners to focus on Christ’s atonement on the cross.

Kenya
Pauline at Baraka FM says: “We will have hourly public announcements about Easter in all daily programming blocks, giving reasons why Christians celebrate Easter and its significance to them. We also do Easter greetings and teachings in our Gospel programmes which are Utukufu Jiwa and Chemi Chemi.
