“Festivals like Easter provide an opportunity to proclaim the Gospel through the local radio with much more emphasis. The festival is celebrated by many who actually have no clue about the significance of Good Friday or the joy of celebrating the resurrection of our Lord,” says Kenneth, Head of Programming at Feba India.
“The 200 KW medium wave transmitters help take the Easter message not only to the primary audience but also the secondary audience in and out of the region. The ones located in the urban areas can access these programmes through the DTH (Direct-To-Home) facility anywhere in the country. Undoubtedly a powerful medium to impact the audience… at an opportune time!”
Mr. Muralidhara, Language Co-ordinator, says: “This Easter our programmes will focus primarily on opening the eyes of non-Christians to the true meaning of Easter. We trust our efforts in producing dramas on the death and resurrection of Christ will help our audience know the deeper meaning, more than a mere celebration of Easter as a festival.” Mr. Muralidhara and the team are involved in the production of various pre-evangelistic programmes over medium wave.
Mr. Johnson, Language Co-ordinator, is excited that it’s time to work on the elaborate messages of the death and resurrection of Christ. He says: “The Bible study messages presented in the programmes are in-depth and are presented by scholars. Through these in-depth study materials, our programmes will reveal the work of Christ and the price paid on the cross on behalf of us. We trust these messages will communicate to the listeners that salvation is in no other name but that of Christ.” Mr. Johnson co-ordinates the production of programmes broadcast through short wave and medium wave.
Pakistan
Staff at Feba Pakistan have recorded a 30-minute Easter programme in magazine format that will include an interview, views from Bible students, voxpop (sound bites) interviews, songs and poetry. This Easter programme will be aired on FM stations in two or three main cities, twice on Easter day, morning and evening.
Feba Pakistan will also broadcast special programmes on short wave for Easter. Four programmes (True Light, Good News, Jesus Friend of All, Along with Children) are particularly sharing messages on the crucifixion of Christ. Other programmes (Living Water, Eternal Hope, Footsteps, Word of Truth) are sharing the suffering of Jesus and his resurrection in a conversational, discussion style. All of their programmes on Good Friday and Easter Sunday will be airing special segments. Even in other broadcasts such as Journey of Truth and Life of Christ, they are specially sharing about the Easter festival in drama format.
