The new FM community radio station in Malawi is nearing completion and hopes to reach an estimated 80,000 people daily, in their own language.
The project has subsequently captured the hearts of Feba Radio supporters from across South Africa and beyond, many of whom had been in prayer for this people group for years.
This is not the first Feba Radio initiative to reach this people group for Christ by radio. Feba’s powerful short wave broadcasts have been touching the people of this rural society since 1996 in the local language in parts of Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania, with great effect. “We see this Malawi FM project as a vital extension of our existing ministry to the very needy and largely unreached people there.” says Frik Veldman, Acting National Director of Feba South Africa.
In July’s Partner Meeting in Malawi, Feba and two ministry partners signed a revised Memo of Understanding for the new Malawi FM community station, and Buks van der Merwe accepted the position of Station Development Manager.
Mark Taylor, Feba UK’s Assistant Director says: “There are numerous obstacles to overcome before the station’s on-air date in mid-December. The dates are very tight, and a significant amount of faith is involved!”
