Team GB collected another Gold medal on Tuesday 19 August when Christine Ohuruogu won the Women's 400m Final, pulling away from the field in the final stretch, becoming the first British female Olympic champion of the 400m.
Born to Nigerian parents in London, Christine was raised less than one mile from the 2012 Summer Olympics stadium. Feba's Norman Brierley spoke with Christine about her Christian faith, when covering the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne for 2K Plus International Sports Media in 2006. 20 August, Planet Sport, this week's programme comes from Beijing, including German rower Katrin Reinert who rowed in the coxed eights, but two months ago was expecting to watch the Olympics on television, then she was surprisingly called up to the squad. She talks
about the excitement of competing at the Games and her faith as a follower of Jesus Christ.
Live Olympics radio show in Chinese
The Olympics special programme by the Chinese team of Feba’s sister organisation FEBC has drawn warm responses from listeners in China. Many called in to share their views on the questions posted in this daily live show from 8-24 August. Yet, many more sent in feedback by SMS which is a very popular and inexpensive way of communicating in China. For FEBC, this is the first live coverage of the Olympic Games in FEBC’s 59 years of outreach to mainland China.
Even though the production centre is in Hong Kong, listeners were given a local mobile phone number which was re-directed into the studio. The live show was then transferred to the broadcasting site by internet. Praise God for a very smooth connection. During the course of the Olympics, both the programme hosts and listeners shared excitement and joyful tears. The whole production team deserves a medal as well for their dedication and excellent performance.
