What’s new in ministry to the Middle East

We’ve all read plenty of news about the chaos in the Middle East. Thankfully Feba’s radio producers are presenting lots of news and interesting stories to encourage their listeners. Feba’s William Mateer also caught up with a former Feba Middle East programme producer at a women’s conference in Ireland.

Egypt, ministry in the online age

In light of recent events, young people in Egypt are actively looking for a better way of life. Feba's young internet radio producers there are online talking with many of them. Messages of hope are pouring into the Radio Voice website’s message board

Prayer Points

  • Pray for the team as they build relationships online by sharing about their daily lives including how Jesus makes a difference.
  • Pray for Farah as she leads the team of volunteers in Egypt, that they will be inspired to make relevant content that is meeting the felt needs of young Arabic-speaking people online. Pray for more volunteers to join the existing team both in the facility as well as to remotely assist.
  • Pray for the technical aspects of the internet radio ministry, that the web servers will function well and be free from blocking, and that they can upgrade the media player to auto play on the website regardless of web browser.

Reality Church — the series continues

The Feba Middle East radio production team is very excited with the latest instalment of Reality Church, the short wave programme broadcast in Yemeni Arabic, a discipleship series teaching new believers how to ‘be’ church (for those who cannot go to a public church).

Feba Middle East’s Jerry Wilson says: “There are a lot of people out there who do not have much hope. They often live in a difficult country with high unemployment, lack of water, growing rebel violence.

Why do you fear me?

Airport security is in a spin again after a terror suspect started a fire with a chemical laden explosive on U.S. Northwest Flight 253 (with 280 people onboard) on Christmas Day.

When you hear news like that, does it make you feel suspicious or upset with those from Muslim areas like Yemen?

Launching community FM radio in Iraq

While continuing their regular Arabic broadcasts over short wave into the Middle East (started way back in 1971), the Feba Middle East team excitedly announces the launch of their own community FM radio station in Iraq.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for the current production team members: Yousof (the team leader), Niamma and Sarah for good ideas for programmes that will touch listeners' hearts.
  • Pray for them to handle this added responsibility of broadcasting on a local FM station as well as their short wave programmes.
  • Pray for the listeners to the new FM programmes that they will contact the station to find out more.
  • Pray for the team's technical problems to be resolved. They were recently offline for several days due to a computer virus, because they do not have the infrastructure to cope with technical issues.

Yemen discipleship programme is a hit

“We praise God because of you and we thank you for your quality programmes especially Reality Church. We pray that more people will listen and receive your programmes.”

Prayer Points

  • Pray for the Yemeni producer that he will be creative in planning the programmes and that more producers will join him on the Feba staff.
  • Pray for those who will voice the next programmes in this discipleship series. Pray for their travel arrangements and visas to be processed in time. For continuity in the series, it is important that all of the "church members" are there or the series needs to be adapted to introduce a new church group.
  • Pray that when the producers get together for recording that they will be guided by the Holy Spirit and be very productive during their brief time.
