Thanks for your generosity

Thanks to all of you who have partnered with us in prayer and finance, supporting our ministry projects, especially over the last 6 months. We are so grateful for your gifts. Here are some updates from people involved in these projects.

Over £113,000 has been received in response to the Engineering appeal for engineering support and equipment. Not only has this helped to keep the stations and studios well maintained, but also a special fund has been set up to provide equipment and enable engineers to travel to the remote locations that need help.

Iraq - mixer for taking live phone calls

This month the Iraq FM team received a new mixer with two mobile phones. Noor, the Project Coordinator, met with Paul Vernon at Feba UK for training on using the new equipment. A few weeks later Noor travelled to Iraq to install the mixer and train the team. Paul says: “It was great to communicate [by Skype] with Noor while he was in Iraq to clarify anything he was unsure of, and help with other technical issues that came up.”
For months many Iraqi listeners were requesting that their voice be heard on the station. When the producers were testing the equipment, “Nine people contacted the station to thank us for giving them the long awaited opportunity to share the microphone with them, to share their opinions,” says Noor. “The team was not so sure about going live and inviting people to call, fearing that nobody is hearing them, but this turned out to be not true.”

Africa - broadcast antenna

Radio Nuru is the only community FM station broadcasting to the Mwane in their language. The Mwane are a people group in an isolated area of Mozambique, making them hard-to-reach. Feba’s Development Engineer Graham Kimber has been helping this station with engineering support and writes: "We successfully replaced Radio Nuru's broadcast antenna …The signal is now stronger so we expect more listeners to be able to tune into their broadcasts.”

However, in breaking news, Radio Nuru is temporarily off air as they work with government regulators to transition their test broadcasting licence to a final licence. Please pray for Feba Mozambique’s Narciso Zandamela as he seeks to understand the issues involved. Pray also for the relationship with local government officials in northeastern Mozambique, that they will continue to support and appreciate the positive impact of the station and work with the station to resolve the licence difficulties.

Your gifts are bringing a living, life-changing hope to hard-to-reach people not only in Africa but around the world. The special appeals for NE Africa totalled more than £64,000 while giving for short wave programming was over £19,000.

Save a life, send a radio

As of last week, 325 radios have been funded through this campaign. 200 are being shipped to Nepal, whilst others are being used in flood response. Here’s what some Feba Facebook fans had to say:

“This is showing how Feba is at work on the ground. God bless the work and may many more send radios!”

“You are involved in something so worthwhile.”

At Summer Madness, William Mateer represented Feba and posted this note: "Playing the Nepal video when a Nepalese lad came over because he heard Nepali music!! He said it was great we were helping his country through this project."

Pakistan - radios and a new generator

Because the flooding was so widespread in Pakistan, Sammy, Director of Feba Pakistan, talked with his short wave partners: “I urge you to do whatever you can to suspend your normal programming and produce special programmes responding to the present disaster.” Using interviews from the flood regions in Kashmir and Charsadda and additional materials produced by other partners, Feba Pakistan broadcast relief information on local FM as well as on short wave. This put key information in the local Urdu, Siraiki, Sindhi and Pashto, which are spoken in the flood areas. Thank you for your generous giving and prayers in response to the flooding – our appeal has raised over £61,000 so far.

The Pakistan office also got a recent engineering gift thanks to supporters in the US. “Our new generator is so helpful during power cuts,” says Sammy. “We can continue with our recordings even during the long hours of load shedding of electricity power. I am thankful from the core of my heart to all those who shared our burden in buying this generator.”

These are just some examples of how Feba is bringing life-changing hope to the hard-to-reach around the world, made possible through your prayers and gifts. We thank you in advance for your continued support.
