Sharing Christmas by radio

As we’ve entered the Christmas season we are excited to share the Good News of Jesus’ birth by radio in many places where people have never heard the story… in Pakistan, Malawi and more.

Pakistan
On short wave ZKS, Zindagi Kay Sung (Along with Life), the magazine-format programme in Urdu for non-Christians, will include some information about Christmas in between its magazine segments, with a special Christmas song during the music segment on 24th and 25th. Programme producers are creating special Christmas topics for these programmes too (Light for the Way in Urdu, Message of Love in Siraiki and Knowledge of the Light in Siraiki).

Hazeen, from Feba Pakistan, says: “On FM we will air a special pre-recorded Christmas programme in place of the usual Syban (Shelter) programme from an FM station in Kashmir. Our topic is ‘Why Christians celebrate Christmas.’ This will contain interviews, songs and a quick word from people in the community.”

”For Charsadda, if all goes well, we plan to have something live from the FM station on the eve of Christmas day. Keep us in prayer, especially as for the last few weeks the issue of blasphemy law is on fire again.”

Malawi
Amos, the Yawo Project Coordinator, says: “Our plan for this Christmas season is that we have made special programmes especially for the local Yawo people. We’ll have these topics for both FM and short wave: What does Christmas mean to you? Why do you think we have Christmas? How do we celebrate in our heart? What happens after we have Christmas?”

“In these programmes we are reflecting what this non-Christian community thinks of the birth of Jesus physically and bring them to spiritual understanding, that the birth of Jesus is not an ordinary birth but it is the birth that brings salvation to the whole world.” They plan to interview a childless woman and a pastor to discuss how unique the birth of Jesus is. Pray for these programmes and listeners as they go on air from 24-27 December 2010.

French Africa
Jonah Tshilenga, French programme producer, says: “Our Women’s Programme producer has produced a special Christmas programme. It speaks of what Christmas should mean for women. The broadcast will be on the 23rd of December. And on the 27th of December we will broadcast a New Year’s special.”
