Radio distribution campaign to help save lives

Today, Feba UK launches the save a life, send a radio campaign. For each donation of £15 on www.sendaradio.org, a self-powered radio will be supplied to those suffering poverty or disaster.

Around the world, radio programmes containing life-saving, life-changing information are being broadcast. Programmes addressing healthcare issues, enabling community development and empowerment, as well as critical information directly broadcast after a disaster, can be heard on the radio.

Yet through poverty or because of a disaster, many people do not have working radios or are unable to afford batteries and so cannot hear this important information.

For the price of just 5 cups of coffee from a fashionable outlet, Feba will ensure that an individual or family in the developing world or in a disaster area will receive a radio and with it, the opportunity for an improved living situation. Donations can be made at www.sendaradio.org and the campaign can be followed on Facebook and Twitter. www.sendaradio.org websitewww.sendaradio.org website

Often it’s the poorest of the poor who suffer from ill health and difficult living conditions, and with low rates of literacy radio is an ideal medium to provide information and education. Advice on nutrition and the prevention of disease, especially HIV, the need for good hygiene and maternal health can be delivered via the radio. But they can’t afford radios (or batteries) which is why Feba has launched save a life, send a radio to meet this need.

In the confusion following a disaster, clear and consistent information broadcast over the radio can save lives, and help reunite missing family and friends. Radio distribution to people who have lost everything is a vital part of disaster response.

Feba uses media to serve and give life-changing hope to communities of hard-to-reach people around the world. Through its programming and in partnership with other like-minded organisations, Feba increasingly seeks to address a full range of issues that are at the heart of a community. Programming is relevant to the listeners, in their heart language, is culturally appropriate and is often locally produced.

Feba is committed to giving life-changing information to hard-to-reach people. As followers of Jesus, Feba uses radio to bring about practical, social and spiritual transformation, seeing lives changed for now and eternity.
