For our Advent Appeal this year we have chosen to highlight our work in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

“I was listening to your radio programmes and God used them to bring me to faith in Jesus.” - Farshad, Afghan listener
When we're asked where Feba works, we often respond: “Turn on your TV - that’s where.” Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Arab world... And what are we doing there? Talking. Listening. Opening windows.
“The people living in darkness have seen a great light,”[1] the apostle Matthew tells us in the Bible quoting Isaiah. Jesus is that ”Light of the World”.[2] Many have seen him. Many more have not.
Thanks to our Afghan broadcasts, Farshad has “seen the light” - or rather heard it. But for every Farshad there are dozens of others who still “sit in darkness”.[3] What does that mean in Afghanistan? Well, accepting that life involves suicide bombs and rocket attacks for instance: “For us, it’s normal. Only a few people like you care,” says one of our listeners.
Feba’s role in the face of such despair is to bring hope to people living in all kinds of darkness – ‘opening the windows’ of their hearts and minds to a different way of thinking, feeling and acting.
“Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” [4]
This Advent we want to make sure that in 2012 more ‘Farshads’ have the chance to follow Jesus in word and deed, to walk in the light, and bring loving transformation to their own communities.
Will you help us open more windows to the light?
You can…
- pray for the work we do by using our Prayer Diary
- act by signing up for Feba’s Facebook page to keep up to date with latest stories from the field
- give a donation to help us continue our work in these hard-to-reach communities
Thank you
